Ah, but they're NOT! Diaclone is a branch of the Japanese-version of Pre-TFs. Diakron are nearly-the-same toys, but in American packaging. :-) Yes, packaging is the key...isn't it always?
![]() Takara Diaclone toys were originally marketed in the USA as Diakron toys (very early 80's). This didn't last very long. However, it paved the way for a joint venture where the Diaclone toys (along with pieces from the Microman line) would be wrapped up with a storyline, and factions...and become the Transformers as we know them today. :-) Many people find the Diakron toys significant for their historical value (think of them as the American versions of Pre-TFs). In terms of molding, there are few to no differences. Diakron even came with the little drivers. :-) One interesting note is the difference in packages. There were straight-packs, and angled-packs. The completist must own two versions of each car boxed to have the set. :-) Insane! Red Sunstreaker, straight vs angled package. Blue Trailbreaker, straight vs angled package. Black Ironhide, straight vs angled package. Note: Yellow Sunstreaker never came in Diakron packaging. This is a hoax perpetuated by an unscrupulous ebay dealer. I'm waiting for the other ones to be created next... And a final note by Maz:"Check out this box...it's the first-release deluxe box for Diaclone! A rare find..."

Ah, but they're NOT! TraSformer is a branch of the Japanese-diaclone version of Pre-TFs. TraSformers are nearly-the-same toys initially, but in American packaging. :-) Yes, packaging is the key...isn't it always?
![]() ![]() Another change is in the accessories...bopper missles were added, for safety concerns (for a ton more on Italian TraSformers, see the Italian Transformers section of the site. It's important to note that many later-release Gig Diaclones are actually TF moldings with some Diaclone stickers, etc thrown in. Here's something interesting: what's going on with these instruction pamphlets. Look alike? Check again...those are in two different languages. :-) Hmmm... (Pic)
