Smallest TFs

An interesting line by Takara. Similar in fashion to the Choro-Q TFs, but instead of being deformed, they're...tiny. Really tiny. They do transform, though:

Wave 1 included Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Soundwave, Starscream, Sideswipe, a shortpacked Prime's trailer, and two chase figures, Skywarp and red Bumblebee...that people insist on calling cliffjumper. :-) Ah well.

Wave 2 of Smallest TFs once again had the Prime (in Anime colors), but this time the assortment included Megatron, Red Alert, Thrust, and Prowl. Jazz was also included, thought it was shortpacked and the chase figures were Ultra Magnus (white Prime) and Bluestreak. It is interesting to note that the molding on Prowl/Bluestreak (especially the front grill) lends itself to the possibility of a future Smokescreen recolor. :-)

Wave 2.5, as it's called, featured rehash of a number of characters from the first two waves (Jazz, Megatron, Anime Optimus Prime, Soundwage w/Ravage, and Starscream, all unchanged from their original release). In-addition, as a preview figure (presumably for wave 3, which never came out) you could pick up a new Hotrod figure (shortpacked). The chase figues in this series were an anime Optimus Prime trailer, and Thundercracker.

In-addition, a fun little custom set was released. In-homage to the original vs set, a WST vs set of Prime and Megs was comissioned. How cute:

Gift Set Optimus Prime | Gift Set Megatron

Toy Variants: The Starscream mold came recolored as Skywarp and Thundercracker and remolded and recolored as Thrust. Bumblebee came recolored as Red Bumblebee / Cliffjumper. Optimus Prime was recolored in Anime colors and as Ultra Magnus. The gift set version also has dark blue rather than black windows. Megatron was also recolored in the giftset with blue plastic instead of red. Sideswipe was remolded and recolored as Red Alert. Bluestreak and Prowl came in the same wave, so you can decide who is a color and remold as who.

Packaging Variants: Each series came with their own unique packaging. As all were blind buys, each toy in a series had the same box. Series one showed Optimus Prime on the box, Series 2 showed Megatron, and Series 2.5 showed Hotrod. So Jazz, Anime Optimus Prime, and Megatron came in Series 2 and Series 2.5 packaging, while Starscream, and Soundwave w/Ravage came in Series 1 and Series 2.5 packaging. Also, Hotrod and Bumblebee were each released as Toys R Us Exclusives. Hotrod came in a G1 style box, while Bumblebee came on a G1 style card.

Three Semi-Official WST Toys have been made in limited quantities, Stepper, Megatron with Scope and Stock, and a fully transformable Ultra Magnus Trailer.

(Webmaster's Note: If anyone knows where I can get a WST Stepper, PLEASE let me know.)

There are many color variants of these available from third parties. Some, like Dirge, are remolds as well.

Justitoys, a company located in Hong Kong have produced a number of unnoficial WST toys with more on the way. All five Dinobots have been available in a number of different colors. Blaster and Shockwave are also available, with others on the way. One note on the Dinobots. Swoop was released last and came with the missile launchers for all five toys. Otherwise, they all came with the same weapons as the original Dinobotos. You also may note from the pictures that without anything to give them scale, they are hard to tell fro the real thing.
