RID Text-changes!

From Mew007
OK, I was taking a look at all my RID boxes and cards the other day,
and noticed a variant...

RID Packaging Variants
For the most part, all RID packages are similar. However, I noticed a
variant that differed from box/card to box/card. The variant itself is
in the text explaining Megs coming to earth and the Autobots emerging.
On a few packages, it claims Megs came with the Decepticons, and important
words are in caps (MEGATRON, OPTIMUS PRIME, PREDACONS, etc.). Then there's
a second variant I found, which claims Megs came with the Predacons, and
none of the words are in all caps.

Galvatron - Decepticons, All Caps
Sky-Byte - Predacons, No Caps
Autobot 3-Pack - Decepticons, All Caps
Hightower - Decepticons, All Caps
Hot Shot / REV - Predacons, No Caps

All seems well for a while, then a third variant shows up...

Side Burn / Daytonus - Predacons, All Caps.

This may be a first-wave error...However, it may not be, considering I
have the second-wave Side Burn (you can tell because the gun flops out
of its holder in Vehicle Mode.)

More or less, the four smaller Decepticons (the limbs for Ruination)
used the same card. I have 3 of the four here, and after inspection,
they are all Predacon, No Caps.

Here are the rest of the cards I have and boxes and their variants...

Crosswise / WARS - Predacons, No Caps.
Mega Octane - Decepticons, All Caps
Super Side Burn - Decepticons, All Caps
Normal X-Brawn - Predacons, No Caps.
Wedge, Grimlock and Heavy Load - Decepticons, All Caps

Indeed, it would seem as though only Side Burn and Daytonus have this
variant, and it's a mistake. However, Ultra Magnus' box says different.
It's a Predacon All Caps. This is quite an odd bunch.

The odd thing is that stand alone, these aren't specific variants. Stuff
changes between different figures. However, since there are 3 versions of
the text, the same toy's card may have two of the three, all three, or just
one of the types of texts.

Reply: From Esteban Okay, here's what I have from my personal collection: "Megatron and his evil Predacons": Prowl* 1st release Wars/Crosswise 1st release Hot Shot/Rev 1st release Mirage/Ironhide 1st release Cryotek --* I suspect the first Side Burn and X-Brawn cards are like this as well. "MEGATRON and his evil PREDACONS": Railspike Rapid Run Ultra Magnus Ro-Tor Movor Armorhide Rollbar* --* Later versions of the Combaticon mini cards with the numeric designation #x of 5 are also like this. "MEGATRON and his evil DECEPTICONS": Spychanger Optimus Prime Spychanger Ultra Magnus Spychanger X-Brawn/Scourge Super Prowl Super Side Burn Super Wild Ride Storm Jet Mega-Octane --* I think I remeber seeing this format on the Build Team members as well. Bots with unique paragraphs*: Scourge Axer/Sideways Clear Spychangers --* Odd how Cryotek was an exclusive but didn't get a distinctive paragraph. I found the "MEGATRON and his evil PREDACONS" version on my Combaticon minis. Every single cardback I have for Movor, Ro-Tor, Armorhide, and Rollbar have this version of the text. Here's a pic of the back of my first issue Combaticon minis: This "MEGATRON and his evil PREDACONS" text also carries over to the Combaticons with the "#x of 5" designations on the backs of the cards. I could not find a version of the COmbaticon minis with "Megatron and his evil Predacons" (lowercase) or "MEGATRON and his evil DECEPTICONS" on any Combaticon mini cards. > Then there's a second variant I found, which claims Megs came with > the Predacons, and none of the words are in all caps. Okay I found this one on my first wave Spychanger two packs. Here's a pic: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/autocon/files/crossx.jpg > More or less, the four smaller Decepticons (the > limbs for Ruination) used the same card. This is the version I could not find and do not own. There's a lot of good stuff in this email. It's going to take me a while to chew on it all. I've got class right now so I gotta go. But I will check all my other boxes and even the ones still at the Kay Bee by my house. I consider their RiD stock my 'extended personal collection'. It pisses me off when someone buys something because that's one less piece I can research. Estumi Weekyweeky +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Subject: Re: RiD 'Megatron' paragraph shenanigans I forgot to add that Obisidian has "MEGATRON and his evil DECEPTICONS", and Urban Camo Ruination doesn't have any paragraph at all! There's not even a paragraph uniquely written for him, which is very different from the other Wal-Mart exclusive Sideways/Axer two pack. They got paragraphs for each robot. I guess you could call them individual Tech Specs. Heck, no paragraph whatsoever puts UCR in a class all by himself! Estebanination
