I followed the directions at: http://www.uspto.gov/patft/images.htm They tell you download AlternaTIFF (only 193 kb) which is at: http://www.mieweb.com/alternatiff Just install it...I had to check off most of the boxes to get it to work. Then restart your browser (I use MIE 5.5). I also found the way to search for patents by #. The page is called Patent Number Search Page and they'll help with some info before you begin.
