Oh, Canada...

Land of maple-leaves, and cold-air-masses.

Canadian variants may not be the biggest subcatagory on the Vari-Quest, but they are important nonetheless. For the most part, Canadian TFs were the same as the standard TF releases around the world. They had some interesting packaging errors, of course: Only in Canada could you purchase the Autobot Megatron. :-) More on those below. Enjoy the mailaways, too!

Pepsi Prime

For starters, Canada got a Pepsi Prime that was much cooler than ours. The Pepsi logo covers the entire trailer...unlike the American version, which only had small stickers you could apply.

Slag

Slag is a recurring theme in Transfandom. The Canadian version of G1 had white legs, as well as more red on him (hence the nickname 'red Slag'). Even the launcher changed color to accomodate. :-) Heck, there's even two different variants on the red Slag itself! In the words of Artfire: "I now have 4 G1 Slags...2 red ones, and 2 'normal' ones. 1st, I would like to say there are differences between the 2 red Slags. Both of these were originally Josh's. One had all his chrome parts molded in white underneath, except for the 'jaw'. The other was the same, with the exception of his head plate. That was molded in black, as was the silver behind the head plate. Both of these red slags have 'Takara Japan' inside it's chest. The clear covers on the hind dino legs are held in by 1 peg, not 3 like the normal release one. One of these Slags have a white coat of paint underneath the red, while the other has the red strait on the metal. The inside covering of the arms (where you push the fists out) completely covers the insides, unlike the normal one. The 'fist-push-out-majigger' is smaller in diameter than the normal one (meaning that the slot is less wide also). Those are all the differences on the red Slags and the normal Slag."

Note: There is word of the G2 green version having white legs as well.

Paperwork

Swoop's tech Spec said 'Tracks' on it. That's a nifty change. So is calling Soundwave, Buzzsaw, and Megatron, 'Autobots'. :-) And Frenzy's name came out as Frenetik for some reason. Ah, those crazy Canadians! We should crosslink them to the French variants subsection.

Minibots

Canadian mailaway minis: We like them because they're one of the only times you will see a complete full-sized instruction book (like the big boys got). :-) Hey, any variant is a good one, as they say...

Masters

Also hard for me to understand is this Chromedome I got from Canada: He's lighter brown, has a blocked copy-stamp, and no chrome on his wheels. It's got the left-tip-longer clip on the underside, which I presume is now the later mold (See: Autobots). In other words, he doesn't make sense. Thoughts?
